Brisbane Festival officially launched their 2024 program last night and we are thrilled to announce that newcomer Mia Lierich will take on the title role in the world premiere of Rachel Burke’s Fancy Long Legs this September.

Co-produced with our friends at La Boite Theatre and Brisbane Festival, Fancy Long Legs is a brand-new glittery and vibrant musical adventure for children, based on a new picture book by international tinsel and craft icon, Rachel Burke.

Adapted for the stage by our very own Naomi Price with original songs by Waveney Yasso and directed by Courtney Stewart (La Boite Theatre), Fancy Long Legs is a playful, glitter-covered adventure that emphasises acceptance, staying true to oneself, and finding friends who celebrate differences.

Proud Queenslander and acting graduate from Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, Mia will make her professional debut as Fancy, a lively young arachnid who embarks on a journey of self-discovery to find her own style and create something unique.

Audiences of all ages will be captivated by this heartwarming and sparkling exploration of neurodivergence in this fully accessible ground-breaking production.
